Tonight Kristin and I are going to our monthly Waiting Families Group (WFG) meeting. WFG is like a free-form support group for couples/families enduring the waiting portion of the adoption process. We’re a little different from most of the other families because we’re waiting to be licensed as foster parents. In other words – we will probably see a number of children come and go before we have the opportunity to adopt one of them.
While our aim is to adopt, we’ve decided on a road that projects less certainty. We will get to see, hear, touch, smell, and probably taste multiple children before one stays forever. Before one adopts our name.
I’m excited to be a foster dad. I haven’t been until now. I mean – I’ve been on board, but I haven’t had the butterflies. Like coming to the end of the line for a rollercoaster, I’m gazing out at the climbs and drops – the loops and dark tunnels. I know they are all going to be part of the ride. I also know, having ridden a coaster or two, that I will not see them coming from the tracks.
So, incase you are wondering where we are in the whole process – we’re at the front of the line. Just waiting for our car to pull in.
I can’t wait to hear more about y’alls process.
I lookd at your gift tag site. Did you know that the nike + iPod kit can allow people to track your movements? Yea. Saw a news story on it. Here’s a link to the research website if you’re interested – http://www.cs.washington.edu/research/systems/privacy.html.
Ok – I wouldn’t stick one in Jaime’s shoes and Kristin says she wouldn’t wear one. However, I’m not really worried about anybody tracking my movements. It’s not even live tracking. They can basically find out wehre you’ve been. I can only really see this being of concern if I was doing something wrong.
It actually is live tracking. Glad that Jaimes wiill be staying away from this trend!
