This morning we made it

on time (7am) even though there were icy bridges we passed over (and fish-tailed which made some alarm go off in our car). Praise God with us! We made it down in record time, during rush hour on a snow day!! I’ve driven 35E often to know this is certainly not normal. I am reminded of a song Jaimes likes to sing, “My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do! Amen!!”

Please pray:

  • Jaimes (or anyone else) will not get sick.
  • More connection w/ Gracie.
  • Continued friendship with foster mom (this is hard on everyone except Gracie but she’s the one we are doing the transition for mainly, not us)
  • For more of Christ and less of us. To hear Him, knowledge of Him with us.

Snow and a bug

Well, today it is supposed to snow and in this city it shuts everything down. We’ll see if the snow really happens or not. I also got an email from my mom early this morning saying she’s sick w/ a fever. Jaimes was going to stay w/ them today and stayed w/ them yesterday.

Reminding myself that God controls all of this.

**Update:  the bug is actually the flu.

Today we met Gracie

Today was the day. We finally met our daughter. Yes, this is all very surreal.

Details:
When we walked in, Gracie was right behind her foster mom. Greeting us with smiles.
She went right to Matt! It was pretty amazing. She is a friendly girl!! She sat w/ me in the first five minutes! What a sweetie! She is a babbling, face making, funny, happy girl! Since this is a transition there is a bit of awkwardness but when is a transition not awkward even just a tiny bit? We transition for the next two weeks and end just days before her first birthday!! We still covet your prayers!! Biggest thing is getting the know Gracie. Second is building a friendship with her foster mom.

We might not get to writing or calling you back until things get settled here. I have some massive cleaning to do tomorrow and grocery shopping. I promise, promise to post. Yes, we will be taking more pics tomorrow, so stay tuned!!

And finally, thanks so much! Seriously, we have such great friends! Your emails, phone calls, prayers have been so sweet to us! We love you!

Nervous beyond words

that pretty much sums it up. Only an hour until we meet our agency worker to make the 30 min trip down. I think there must be a whole colony of butterflies in my stomach. Matt is cool as a cucumber. We balance each other nicely. Post and pics tonight.

One day to go

I am finding myself almost counting the hours today. We are going to the park, getting some pics together for a baby photo albumn together of family (so Gracie can get aquainted with her new sister she’ll meet on Wednesday) and grandparents, uncles and their ladies, and cousin. Getting batteries for the camera, a tape for the video camera. We’re also meeting w/ a realtor today just to check out what is out there…we’ve got another 4-5 mths in this place.

Pictures to be posted to Flickr tomorrow!!

Today was Friday

In the typical sense included with all of excitement of the end of the week.  Adding that we are closer to the day we will meet the next member of our family made it all the more exciting.  What a fun day today was. Jaimes and I went to playgroup, came home and washed the booster seat that Gracie will sit in. Talked to a friend on the phone. Confirmed the time we will go to meet the little sweetie. Cleaned the girls’ room, organized all the toys. And played with her rocket shooter outside.

Kind of freaking out

that we will meet Gracie on Sunday.  Having all kinds of “what ifs” which is incredibly normal for me.  Today we got all of the medical reports and foster reports.  I have read over and over “what a happy baby!” You can tell that her foster mom loves her!

No call yet

Today is now Tuesday and our “regroup” has not happened.  Hmph.  I see Matt and I both getting kind of worn out by this wait.  I’m the kind of girl to stuff my “unpleasant, anxious, upset stuff” until it turns into an outburst.  God is no doubt teaching me about myself!

So Jaimes and I are out to the steps outside our door to enjoy another afternoon and experience a fun dip candy.  And say He is still good.

We might get approved today

After talking to a friend last night that used to work “in the business” we emailed our agency which led her to email someone else who is over all of the background checks. It sounds like we’ll be approved today. We’ll see and be sure to send word out everyway we know how (read: via email and blog)

UPDATE: Looks like it’s not going to happen today. Our agency worker is out of town and we have some extra paperwork to do now. We’re looking at regroup on Tuesday and – hopefully – get our approval and begin the transition process.
