Tonight, we Donovan’s, will begin our first annual (read attempt) to do Advent boxes. Since Matt and I have been married we have really tried to do Advent candles but year after year we would realize (mostly on Christmas night) that only one or two candles were lit.

This year we are trying something different. Opening a box with scripture to read and a small treat. These are little numbered boxes that we can stick in the tree and find on the correct day. Starting at 5 and working backwards. We’ll see how this goes. Jaimes has been really excited and able to understand more this year. Our hope and prayer is that we can build on this and mostly, that it will move us to worship our great God and King.

**update:  We made it through.  Jaimes had a nap today and was very hyper tonight.  Dancing, singing, jumping.  We talked about why we need Jesus.  Heard what our problem is and read about the fall.  Honestly, my expectations were all over the place.  I am one of those people who is very hard on myself.  Baby steps, right?  It’s kindof hard for me to worship and teach at the same time especially with a little girl who is all over the place.  You’ve got to start somewhere though, right?
