Should I learn French?
And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.”

As one who loves the process, practice, and fruit of communication - how do you handle this text?

It makes it sound like God was scared of people and what they might do. It also makes God sound like an insecure punk.
Interesting read.

It makes me think of when one of the kids gets into something and I remove that certain something because in my parental wisdom I can see this will cause pain for my children or make a huge mess.
He knows the hearts of men. We are wicked. As a person who loves the process, practice and fruit of communication (and has a gift for it!!) I think that you should speak carefully, knowing you are sinful and asking God to help you.
If you want to learn French we could see about getting some CD’s. We just got a Spanish CD at Chick-fil-a. I’m sure French will be next week

Perhaps God was being facetious. Just a thought. I lean toward it being the grace and mercy of God in restraining and preventing further sins of man trying to set himself up against God.
